FFI Soccer Magazine Launch!
Posted July 9, 2007 Posted Under: Objectivo.comHey Guys,
Hope everyone is doing well. In case you didn’t already here, I finally published our first issue of FFI (stands for Full-Field Insider) Soccer Magazine. I came up with this idea about 18 months ago and with the help of a few very talented people we were able to finally make this dream become a reality. If you’ve ever started a business then you know how exciting (and scary) doing something like this can be, but I’ve done so much research and I’m so passionate about this project that there is no doubt in my mind that we can really change soccer and the soccer media in this country through this publication.
One thing that I really could use some help with is subscriptions. We need a solid readership in order to secure advertising dollars. We’re doing all kinds of grassroots promotions this summer by going out to all the tournaments and all the Galaxy and Chivas games and pretty much making it a point to be involved with any soccer-related activity in Southern California. However, we could definitely use some help from friends and family. If you guys could subscribe then it would be an absolutely huge help to the magazine and to me.
You’ll get a year’s subscription (12 issues) plus our preview issue that we just printed. Our magazine is very personality-driven in that we aim to bring our readers the character and lifestyle of the elite players in Southern California. Every issue will have lots of off-the-field stuff and funny editorial that you’ll enjoy even if you don’t know how to play. I’ve read what’s out there and I promise that we’ll deliver the best and most entertaining soccer magazine every single month. The yearly subscription is $28.87 which breaks down to a little more than $2 per month so I hope that’s affordable for everyone. The mag is 64 pages so it’s not like some little newsletter either. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth.
If you want to feel warm and fuzzy about where part of your dollar is going, we’re also starting a scholarship program to help high school aged kids pay for club soccer. The fees for soccer are really out of control (as much as $7k+ per year) and it limits underprivileged kids from getting exposure to college coaches. Our goal of the scholarship program is to help kids who are:
very talented soccer players
even better students
Have a lack of financial resources
We want to help kids like these eventually get to the college level where they can get a college degree. If they make it to the pros then that’s great too, but our main focus is to help this underprivileged kids achieve social upward mobility by going to college. Sports have helped so many people improve their lives and we want to help kids in soccer achieve things that they didn’t think were possible.
So please go to our website and subscribe to the magazine. The web address is www.ffisoccer.com and just click subscribe and it’ll walk you through the whole process. It’s really easy and takes like 3 minutes to complete.
I’ve been pouring my life into this project because I believe so strongly in it. I hope that you guys can help us out. Please forward this on to anyone that might be interested in the magazine and let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Chris Martinez
