The great "TH 14". Love him or hate him, he's absolute quality!
In a Q&A session with Freddy Adu and the nytimes.com, Freddy Adu displays that European Football has already changed him.

Freddy Adu "Get's It"
While he played in the MLS from the early age of 14, Freddy Adu dreamed of playing in Europe, truly where the best players belong. Adu understood that it would be difficult, living in another country and culture, but the football and his career comes first. This attitude is in stark contrast to a Landon Donovan, who tucked tail and ran from Europe. Adu wants to be a world class player, not an MLS All-Star. With every question he answered, he displayed his maturation, which has also been proven on the pitch.
More American kids should watch Freddy Adu, and take his approach to the game, because "he gets it". When asked about Jozy Altidore's link with Real Madrid and what advice he had given him, this is what he said.
About Real Madrid, I told him that we have to think about all these things. For me, I made the decision to go to Benfica because I knew it was a place I would play and get an opportunity to grow up. The spotlight won’t be on you as much as you learn and become a better player. It’s important to take things one step at a time. All this stuff plays a big role in the decision-making process. If you’re leaving M.L.S. for Europe you want to go to a place where you have a chance to play, grow up and mature as a player and as a person. Hopefully, the move for me will help me achieve my long-term goal of being one of the best players to play the sport. But first, you have to be one of best on your team. It starts with your team and them moves on.
Spot On Freddy, my admiration for you is on the rise. What's your opinion about Freddy's Q&A?
